Welcome to Fat Daddy’s — Milwaukee’s home for volleyball, cold drinks, unforgettable moments, and community spirit.

Fat Daddy’s was established in 1999 in Milwaukee’s Historic Walker’s Point neighborhood and quickly became a destination for volleyball enthusiasts. In 2003, we expanded from two to three volleyball courts, allowing for nightly league play. Saturdays are for tournament play, including the home grown Drunken Tournament and various charity tournaments throughout the summer season. Check out our Volleyball tab for more information.

Even if volleyball isn’t your thing, stop by and have a drink! We have 23 tap lines that rotate regularly, offering both the classics and new craft beer to try. If you’re hungry, order up a frozen pizza by Avanti Foods. Fat Daddy wear is also available for purchase and includes hats, t-shirts, longsleeves and seasonal tank tops, croptops, & hoodies. Kids clothes too!

Fat Daddy’s started life long before volleyball was ever on anyone’s radar. The building at 120 W. National Avenue was constructed in 1929, originally housing a shoe repair shop and rooming house in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood. Through decades of change — from neighborhood watering hole to tavern — the space evolved alongside the city around it.

In 1999, Michael M. Fritz took over the bar and gave it its enduring name: Fat Daddy’s. He spent his first year renovating the space, and soon after expanded the outdoor area, transforming what had once been a modest tavern into a place with abundant sand and space for beach volleyball — an urban twist on a classic game.

Since then, Fat Daddy’s has grown into one of Milwaukee’s premier volleyball destinations, blending laid-back bar culture with serious sand action. What began as a simple urban beer garden has become a scene where players and fans alike come to eat, drink, compete and connect — all year round.

Volleyball Leagues & Court Rentals – We host regular leagues and tournaments for a range of skill levels, from casual play to more competitive matches.

Community & Events – Beyond volleyball, Fat Daddy’s is a hub for social events, fundraisers, music bingo nights, special celebrations and seasonal happenings.

Neighborhood Culture – Rooted in the vibrant Walker’s Point area, we celebrate Milwaukee’s diverse community and have long been a gathering space for locals of all kinds.
